Open-plan living is a trend that is gaining popularity in the UK, and our clients, who have lived in their bungalow for several years, wanted to increase their living space while also improving the connection to their garden and other rooms in the house. Our design brief was to achieve a "traditional form with contemporary aesthetic."

To fulfill this brief, we utilised anthracite grey windows and doors, combined with a modern white render and brickwork facade to create a new single-storey extension that meets the project objectives. The extension features a pitched roof that is vaulted and a lower flat roof, which creates a sense of scale within the same room. These different ceiling heights also serve to separate the different rooms within the open-plan living space.
